With the season getting into full swing, each weekend there are more meetings and more opportunities for Welsh trainers and riders. In the absence of a meeting on Welsh soil this weekend, there are plenty of opportunities outside Wales. Meetings at Barbury Racecourse, Badbury Rings, Great Trethew (Cornwall) and Garthorpe have attracted quite a few Welsh entries. On Saturday the Vine and Craven hold their meeting at Barbury Racecourse. There are 97 entries for the 7 race card starting at 11.30. In the PPORA Club Members (Novice Riders) Race, there are two Welsh entries Daffern Steel (Dylan Kitts) hoping to improve on 5th place at Howick last Sunday and David Brace’s Pink Eyed Pedro to be ridden by David’s grandson Connor Brace. Andrew Quick has three entries, Dissertation (Open Maiden 4,5&6 r Olds) third here at the end of January, Sangfroid (Mixed Open) and Beau de Tabel (Restricted) with Bradley Roberts on board. Also in the Mixed Open, Andrew Leyshon has Azure Glamour (James King). Andrew also has entries in the Open Maiden/CA Club Members Mares (Buy Me Out). Snow Puma trained by Carly Packwood may run in the Open Maiden with Lorcan Williams on board, hoping to have got over their fall at Howick last Sunday. Joanne Priest has Buffalo Sabre in the Open Maiden, last seen out at Chaddesly Corbrett two weeks ago, and Swiss Heights in the same race. Best of luck.
